Leather manufacturer Pittards, which owns a number of leather goods brands including Daines and Hathaway, appointed Kerve in March following a strategic and creative-led pitch, according to Kerve creative director Wayne Deakin.
Pittards briefed Kerve to create an easy-to-use site that ‘nods towards Britishness but isn’t over-the-top or too Cool Britannia’, says Deakin.
He adds, ‘It’s a great brand that has been around since the 1920s and that your grandmother might know, but the younger market has no idea about its rich heritage.’
The website, which can be found at www.dainesandhathaway.co.uk, features a green colour palette and landscape photography. Kerve worked with a stylist to create the model’s costumes, which combine 1920s references with modern styling.
Deakin says, ‘The challenge was to create a site which would appeal to the brand’s wide market, from the 80-year-old grandmother to the man about town looking for a new man bag.’
