Rob Riley rejoins Blue Marlin from Interbrand

Rob Riley is returning to Blue Marlin from Interbrand after just five months.

Blue Marlin confirmed that Riley has returned to the consultancy on a short-term contract as creative director for the London office, but refused to make any further comment. Riley was creative director of fmcg at Interbrand, where he succeeded Daniela Nunzi Mihranian.

A source close to Blue Marlin says that Riley plans to move abroad and may not occupy his new role for long. Riley’s arrival follows the departure of former Blue Marlin executive creative director Martin Grimer, who left the consultancy in May.

Last year Grimer said Riley’s departure would allow the consultancy to ’review the structure of the London team and deploy resources where we need them most’. Blue Marlin says that it has shortlisted five people to replace Grimer permanently as leader of the London studio, but has no plans to fill his role as global creative director.
