Sarah Carr wins V&A Illustration Award 2010

Sarah Carr has been announced as the overall winner of the V&A Illustration Awards for her illustrations for How to Drink by Victoria Moore, published by Granta Books.

Carr graduated from Kingston University in 2003 and has since worked with designers and brands including Anya Hindmarch, Nigella Lawson, Green & Black’s, Fortnum & Mason and Hendrick’s Gin.

She won the prize for best illustrated book as well as the overall award.

The award for best cover went to Marion Deuchars for her illustration for Burmese Days by George Orwell, published by Penguin Classics. The prize for best editorial was won by Matthew Richardson for Phantom Space Storms, published by New Scientist.

All category winners have been awarded £2000, with the overall winner receiving an additional £2000. Work by all the winning artists, as well as selected work from the shortlist, will go on display until 19 December at the Victoria & Albert Museum’s Twentieth Century galleries.
