Light Bureau design director Paul Nulty launches consultancy

Paul Nulty has left lighting design consultancy Light Bureau, where he was design director, to set up his own practice, Paul Nulty Lighting Design.

Light Bureau says it is still reviewing whether Nulty will be replaced or if there will be a reshuffle within the consultancy.

Nulty left Light Bureau last week and has now opened his new consultancy, which is currently working on projects for a football club,  a boutique hotel and a fashion label.

He is working with two freelance designers and will ‘bring in more freelancers or permanent staff where necessary’, he says, adding, ‘Flexibility will mean lower overheads.’

Nulty says he will aim to work alongside architects and interior designers, adding, ‘We’re going to look to be involved much earlier in projects.’

This will mean lighting designs can be integrated into the fabric of  buildings and will help ensure sustainable solutions by getting the best out of ‘miniaturisation and LED technology’, says Nulty.
