Rapha’s Tour de France prints
This year’s Tour de France, which starts in Corsica on 29 June, will be the 100th edition of the epic cycle race.
To mark the occasion, uber-aspirational bike brand Rapha has commissioned ten illustrators to create artworks commemorating the 100 tours that have taken place.
The La Centième project has contributors from around the world, each illustrator has been given a ten-year period to represent.
Riccardo Guasco, whose print represents the 1913-1926 period, sums up the old-school nature of the race, with these moustachioed bikers.
As does Sheryl Chapman (1927-1936) who shows racers Antonin Magne and Andre Leducq complete with old-fasioned goggles and water-bottles mounted on their handlebars.
And bringing things up to date, Jack Saunders (2004-2013) has created a piece based around 87 hours, 34 minutes, 47 seconds – Sir Bradley Wiggins’s winning time in last year’s race.
The prints are available to buy at www.rapha.cc and are also on show at Rapha Cycle Clubs in London, Osaka, San Francisco and Sydney.
