Alice Rawsthorn and Vanessa Brady honoured in Queen’s Birthday List

Design critic Alice Rawsthorn and interior designer Vanessa Brady have been given OBEs in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Lighting designer Patrick Woodroffe, who worked on the 2012 London Olympics opening and closing ceremonies, also receives an OBE.

Rawsthorn, who is design critic for the International New York Times and former director of the Design Museum, is recognised for services to design and the arts.

Vanessa Brady

Brady, who is founder of interiors organisation the Society of British and International Design, is recognised for services to the interior design industry and the UK economy.

Lighting designer Patrick Woodroffe, who was made a Royal Designer for Industry last year, has also been given an OBE, for services to the arts.

Others honoured in this year’s list include Pauline Tambling, joint chief executive of Creative and Cultural Skills, who receives a CBE.

Jaya Chakrabarti Gallemore, founder and chief executive of Bristol-based digital consultancy Nameless has been made an MBE, and Pauline Jaffray, founder of East Lothian-based consultancy PJ Design, has been made a Medallist of the Order of the British Empire.
