London community radio station Resonance 104.4 FM is to broadcast a series of shows focusing on graphic design and music and hosted by designer and writer Adrian Shaughnessy.

Kicking off tomorrow at 1pm, the first of six weekly one-hour programmes will feature Jonathan Barnbrook, founder of design consultancy Barnbrook. Future guests will include Neville Brody, Malcolm Garrett, Fred Deakin and Michael C Place.

Shaughnessy plans to intersperse discussion of design issues with a selection of music chosen by each guest, many of whom developed an interest in graphic design through an appreciation of album cover art.

‘I realised that Resonance has every subject under the sun apart from graphic design,’ he says. ‘There are enough general design-related subjects to discuss, but I will definitely also try to make the connection between design and music, talking about music that has influenced or inspired [the guests].’

Resonance is also streamed via the Internet, with links to a number of formats on the station’s website at www.resonancefm.com.
