Design auctioned off at University of Lincoln

NB Studio, Johnson Banks, 300 Million and Turner Duckworth are just some of the design groups pledging support for The University of Lincoln’s first Design Auction, which takes place next month.

Eighty design consultancies will participate in the auction, as part of the university’s fundraising efforts for its end-of-year graphic design show.

More than 100 lots, including an out-of-print edition of David Hillman’s Nova magazine, a poster by Michael Johnson depicting the steps of how to get a design job after university and album covers by Stefan Sagmeister, will be on sale.

Sea Design is offering a three-week placement at its studio, while a week of working at Dowling Design and Art Direction is also up for grabs.

Graphic design tutor John Dowling says, ‘The event is about getting graduates a foot in the design door and raising awareness of the course at Lincoln.’

The Design Auction website, which went live this week, has been designed by third-year students Faye Morrow, Matt Mellor and Liam Mitchell.

The auction takes place in the university’s Jackson Lecture Theatre on 9 April.

Bids are being accepted on-line, by telephone and at the event, where guest auctioneer will be graphic designer Jonathan Barnbrook.
