DIUS to unveil Government innovation strategy

The Department for Innovation, Universities & Skills is set to publish its innovation strategy today.

The Secretary for Innovation, Universities & Skills John Denham is due to answer questions on the new plans via a live Web chat on the DIUS website at 1.30pm.

The paper will be the first real indication of how the Government plans to handle the design and creative industries within its new innovation policy framework.

This will be the second Government paper in two days relating to policy on the design industry. Yesterday, the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform published its enterprise strategy white paper, which was announced by Chancellor Alistair Darling in his Budget address.

The BERR paper was singled out by CBI chairman Richard Lambert yesterday as being the most salient part of the Budget.
