First Dott Cornwall projects out to tender

The Design Council and Cornwall County Council are seeking designers to help deliver four initiatives as part of Designs of the Times Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Designers and senior design project managers are being sought to work on the Pengegon Community Centre, a public transport pathway, a sustainable building centre and a social enterprise centre, in the first Dott tenders to be released.

The Pengegon Community Centre brief will see the appointed designers asked to investigate demand/supply issues and prepare a concept plan for a potential community centre for the Pengegon Estate in Pool, as part of a housing development by Midas Homes.

The public transport pathway brief concerns a new road being built to bypass residential areas and the A3047 between Camborne, Pool and Redruth. The aim of this road is to turn the A3047 into a public transport pathway, and designers are being sought to instigate a design-led user-engagement programme, and the co-create a public transport framework and blueprint for delivery.

The sustainable building centre and social enterprise centre projects are to investigate the demand and opportunity for such centres within the Camborne, Pool and Redruth area, by engaging with local agencies and stakeholders.

Between one and four senior design project managers, and an unspecified number of designers are being sought to deliver these briefs. Those appointed will join a pool of potential Dott Cornwall designers, who will only be required to submit a short submission of interest for future projects.

The deadline for responses is 12 March, with appointments due on 18-19 March. Work will commence on 23 March.
