Urine collection device wins top Design Week Award

The Peezy urine collection device, created by Funnelly Enough with Maddison, has won the Best of Show in the Design Week Awards.

The Peezy was invented by Dr Vincent Forte in response to problems encountered by female patients when asked to deliver a mid-stream urine sample.

It was developed by a team including Forte’s sister Giovanna, managing director of Funnelly Enough, and head of manufacture and quality assurance Nick Shelley.

Vincent Forte says, ‘The win has still not sunk in. The award is a testament to having a vision and turning your dreams into reality.

‘It means all our persistence and hard graft have paid off.’

The judges said, ‘This is a product which shows where design is doing its job where it normally wouldn’t. The Peezy resolves all issues of contamination. It is a simple idea with a fun, fantastic and elegant solution.’

Apple’s MacBook Air was highly commended, with the judges praising it for being ‘in a league of its own’.

Established & Sons, the Victoria & Albert Museum and The National Gallery won Design Week Awards Hall of Fame awards.
