D. I. Why?

Remember Changing Rooms? The team of squawking interior designers transformed neat, if a tad boring, middle-class homes into B-movie set monstrosities, while Carol Smillie narrated through gritted, grinning teeth.

Well, German artist Christian Jankowski will be committing a similar whirlwind makeover for the Pump House Gallery in Battersea, London SW11, next month. As part of his project The Perfect Gallery, Jankowski has invited an interior decorator, a team of handy Andys and day-time TV staple Gordon Whistance [yes, we were just as clueless] to undertake renovations on the Pump House’s historic interiors.

Teary outbursts, artistic musings and clashes of taste will all be documented for a reality-hungry audience and will be displayed as part of the final installation from 21 April – 6 June. Let’s just hope they don’t end up with a Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen-esque nightmare in velvet.
