French design event targets UK designers

Interior designer Rabih Hage, Tom Dixon and design journalist Max Fraser will gather at the French ambassador’s residence in London tomorrow for an event showcasing French design.

Design Forum will feature the work of 23 French luxury furniture and fittings manufacturers, including Baccarat, Ligne Roset and Gilles Delfino. The companies are seeking to promote their products to UK interior designers working in the hospitality sector.

About 125 British designers are attending the all-day event, which will also feature a panel debate between French and UK designers and manufacturers including Dixon, Hage, interiors and product designer Patrick Jouin, and French design promoter Gerard Laizé.

Fraser will chair the debate, which will focus on issues surrounding the commissioning of high-profile design pieces, and on how manufacturers and interior designers can find new talent.

‘The idea is to bring together these French companies so that they meet up with London designers. British designers are always looking for high-quality products, so this event will provide a place for them to see the best that France has to offer,’ says Annick Lacocquerie, head of the consumer goods department at the French Embassy’s Trade Commission.
