Furniture show debut postponed for second year running

The London Furniture Show, a new exhibition due to launch in May, has been postponed due to a lack of exhibitors.

The show, which specialises in high-end furniture and furnishings, was to be held at Excel London in London Docklands.

Although the organiser, Insight Exhibitions, says it had attracted a ‘good number’ of manufacturers committed to attend, not enough had signed up to make the show worthwhile for visitors.

The show was originally planned for May 2009 but was postponed after discussions with its key exhibitors during the economic downturn. There are now plans to postpone the show for another year, but with integral changes planned.

Insight Exhibitions managing director David Wilkins says, ‘I remain convinced that a new, London-centric, furniture show is needed, and that May is the ideal time in terms of delivery of new ranges to retailers for the key autumn selling period.

However, we are rethinking the show’s size and format, and possibly the venue.
