Hat-Trick and NB Studio work with British Heart Foundation

The British Heart Foundation is publishing a series of ten heart health booklets for the general public, created by Hat-Trick Design.

BHF appointed Hat-Trick Design in January last year, following a credentials pitch against two of its other rostered consultancies, which include NB Studio, Studio Eight, Together Design, Marc & Anna and B&W Studio.

The booklets (pictured) cover topics including stopping smoking, coping with stress, eating well and getting active. ’We wanted a design that felt interactive, lively and engaging, and that had a slightly different format to other booklets,’ says Louise Kyme, BHF design manager. Hat-Trick Design created a notepad look for the booklets, as well as providing illustrations and art directing photography by John Angerson.

Meanwhile, BHF is also producing a series of marketing materials featuring images designed by NB Studio with illustrator Andy Smith. The pictures are intended to promote the charity’s work to beat heart disease. Kyme appointed NB Studio directly to the project without a pitch.

’Both NB Studio and Smith have imaginative takes on the world, which made them ideal for this project,’ she says. The images centre around a heart image, designed by NB Studio, which Smith created surrounding images for (pictured).

’We wanted to make some of the drier topics feel fun and interesting,’ says Kyme. The images will be appearing on posters and other promotional literature, as well as on fundraising e-cards.
