Januzzi Smith shortlisted for Italian arts job

Januzzi Smith has made the shortlist to create the visual identity and branding for new Italian arts and culture centre Lugano Arti Contemporanee.

The consultancy is up against four other groups, including Italian consultancy Studio FM Milano and Swiss groups CCRZ, Ackermann Dal Ben Communication Design and Tagli/Oberholzer.

Januzzi Smith and its fellow shortlisted groups beat an initial 80 design consultancies from across five countries to reach this stage of the pitch.

The brief will involve creating branding for LAC, a £100m arts centre designed by architect Ivano Gianola, which will house a concert hall, theatres, art galleries, restaurants, bars, shops and a car park.

LAC will choose the winner on 5 May.

The arts centre is due to open in 2012.
