Shortlist unveiled to replace Dan Fern at Royal College of Art

A shortlist of candidates is being interviewed today to replace Dan Fern as head of the communication art and design course at London’s Royal College of Art.

Design Week understands this seven-strong shortlist includes Research Studios founder Neville Brody, design critic Rick Poynor and Atelier Works co-founder Quentin Newark.

The shortlist is also understood to comprise: Lawrence Zeegen, illustrator and head of the School of Communication Design at Kingston University; Andrew Haslam, who teaches at Central St Martins College of Art and Design; London- and Zurich-based designer Cornel Windlin; and designer and writer William Holder.

A spokeswoman for the RCA was unable to comment on the shortlist, but confirmed that interviews are taking place today, and that a new course leader would be appointed by the beginning of the next academic year.
