RCA and Kvadrat pitch together in Milan

The Royal College of Art Design Products department has collaborated with Danish textiles company Kvadrat to create camping-based concept RCA Intent at the Milan furniture fair.

Coordinated and curated by designer and RCA tutor Onkar Kular, RCA Intent will see five tents created from fabric donated by Kvadrat exhibiting work from the department’s MA students and graduates.

Alongside these designs, the tents will also include the recently launched Design Products Collection, an initiative which aims to make the design proposals put forward by graduates and the department faculty commercially viable.

The collection features 14 products by 13 designers including a cardboard table by El Ultimo Grito, and the In-betweening Clock by Hye-Yeon Park, which was nominated for the Brit Insurance Design of the Year award.

Head of department Professor Tord Boontje says, ‘We’re really excited to be showing the Design Products Collection alongside work by our current students and recent graduates.

‘We’ve moved to an exciting new space, which we hope will show international visitors the breadth of talent coming out of the Design Products course at the RCA.’

The Milan furniture fair runs from 12-17 April.
