It’s this proliferation of pictures of female faces that has inspired illustrator Jon Burgerman’s blog, Drawings of Girls I’ve seen on Tumblr.
The colourful series of portraits shows the shared message of these images – each of them screams out, ‘like me!’
Now, 100 of these images are to go on show at east London gallery Beach London.
The universal desperation for approval is evident in the majority of online images of girl faces – whether from adverts, fashion spreads or the ubiquitous selfies that clutter our walls.
According to the gallery, Burgerman’s blog aims to help him ‘understand the imagery and in turn contribute to its ongoing, endless scroll of a conversation’.
It adds, ‘The images he has drawn range from humorous, fun and celebratory, to the sexy, seedy and sad.’
Tumblr Girls runs from 27 March – 27 April at Beach London, 20 Cheshire St, London E2 6EH
