Japanese animators unite for music therapy project
To mark the third anniversary of the Great Eastern Japan earthquake, a group of Japanese animators has created a poignant reminder that relief efforts continue.
The Zapuni LLC organisation was founded in 2012 to bring together Japanese artists and musicians to collaborate on different projects to help raise awareness and money for aid.
This project is an animated music video, which has been two years in the making and is set to Sade’s Grammy nominated song By Your Side.
It features a rabbit and a bear who lose a friend to the earthquake and shows how music helps them come to terms with their loss.
Directed by Tsuneo Goda, it has been created by the stop-motion animation company Dwarf for children’s charity Soma Children’s Orchestra and Chorus which has been inspired by El Sistima, and uses music therapy to help children who have been emotionally and psychologically traumatised by the disaster.
Any donations will go on instruments, teaching and classes. You can donate directly here.
