Oh Mother

Marking the aftermath of Mother’s Day, next week sees the opening of an east London exhibition entitled Mother.

The show is being organised by all-girl arts collective Peaches ‘n’ Keen, and features work selected from an open call on the gang’s website.

Based loosely around the word mother, artists were invited to send in work that interpreted the idea in whatever way they liked, and in whatever medium – though there seems to be a strong photography bias to the selection.

We like Ruth Waters’ eerie collage:

Polly Karpova’s work, meanwhile, has a strangely vulnerable quality to it:

Our favourite piece, however, has got to be the wonderful image at the top of the story – a woman in ill-fitting pyjamas, taking her rather relaxed-looking dog for a walk in a pink buggy.
