Yoni Alter’s City
Kemistry Gallery is hosting Yoni Alter’s debut London exhibition at the end of the month, which will show how Alter views the city through a sort of architectural kaleidoscope.
The Kemistry consultancy has recently worked with Alter on the branding of The Evening Standard’s TV channel London Live, which launches on 31 March.
This show partly focuses on the work behind the project, which has seen Alter’s illustration brought to life as a series of animated idents.
That said, the overall feel is about how his work is inspired by urban landscapes and not all of them are in London.
To create the images Alter applies different reduction methods so that each building can be simplified and abstracted slightly before compositing the piece and giving everything a completely new colour.
There are four series in the show, and the work is a mix of gicléeprints, including special editions of the London Live images, screenprints, large-scale silver prints, a wall decal, a window decal, and a sculpture.
Yoni Alter, City, runs from 27 March to 3 May at the Kemistry Gallery, 43 Charlotte Road, EC2A 3PD
