Harvey styles Toast for London

Upmarket retailer Toast is set to open its first London store in Islington next week, designed by former Din Associates partner John Harvey.

This will be the sixth retail project carried out by Harvey for Toast, but the first since he set up his own consultancy, John Harvey Design Consultancy, four months ago.

The consultancy is also working on three other projects for Toast including a new 220m² store in Bath, which is due to open next month.

Toast opened its first standalone store in Harrogate in March 2005. The interiors feature a mix of natural materials displayed alongside antiques and contemporary objects.

Din Associates was appointed to the project in January 2005 on the basis of a two-year relationship with Toast.

Din announced that it was to close in January following a failed attempt to agree a management succession plan.
