The Surface
The Surface, a coffee table-mounted touchscreen PC for retail and leisure customers, has been launched today by Microsoft. The wireless-enabled computer, which runs Microsoft Vista and has a 30-inch display screen that can respond to multiple touches simultaneously, was conceived by Stevie Bathiche of Microsoft Hardware and Andy Wilson of Microsoft Research. It goes on sale in the US at the end of the year and is designed to ‘transform the way people shop, dine, entertain and live’.
