Warrington supsends new logo

Warrington Borough Council has made a snap decision to suspend plans to change its logo, following a storm of protest from concerned locals and councillors.

The council has today announced that it has suspended the roll-out of the identity, reported yesterday by designweek.co.uk.

A council spokeswoman said any decision over whether or not to go ahead with the redesigned logo is now pending an extraordinary general meeting on the 21 May.

The decision to revamp the current logo – a crest with a Latin motto which dates in part from the 1500s – had been mooted for about 18 months, since the council carried out research which suggested that some people found the old version stuffy and old-fashioned.
