Bark Design creates indoor hotel garden

Graphics group Bark Design is creating an indoor garden at the Andaz Hotel in Liverpool Street.

Bark is installing grass, trees, flowers and garden furniture in the hotel’s upper gallery to create its English Summer Garden, which will stay in place throughout July and August.

During the Wimbledon tennis tournament, the garden will be tennis-themed, showing match highlights on plasma screens from ‘Andaz Hill’.

The garden will be modified to celebrate other summer sporting fixtures, including the Henley Royal Regatta, Ascot and the Ashes.

Bark is used regularly by the hotel, having created its website last year, as well as its in-house magazine, Stock.

The consultancy has designed marketing materials for the hotel for several years, including during its former life as the Great Eastern Hotel. Hotel group Hyatt bought the hotel in 2006.

‘We promoted ourselves to the hotel’s new owner as knowing everything about the building and Hyatt picked us up to work on the brand,’ says Bark creative director Jason Edwards. ‘Now, Hyatt is giving us events to creatively direct, such as the summer garden’.

However, design group Lippincott created the Andaz branding in 2007.

English Summer Garden opens on 26 June and runs until 30 August.
