Start Creative has appointed Johan Engelbrecht as creative director for its recently established Dubai office.

Engelbrecht joins Start from his position as creative director for the Formula One Theme Park in Dubai. He also previously worked as design director at Landor and for The Brand Union.

Start’s Dubai outpost was established late last year, in part to handle the group’s new branding contract with the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Engelbrecht claims to be looking forward to ‘taking brands into the digital world, where they may not have gone before’.

Alison Kerr is also relocating to Dubai from Start’s London headquarters, to take on the role of client director. Engelbrecht and Kerr will be the first permanent senior staff to be based at the Dubai office.

Joining the digital and branding group’s London office are Roger Thelwell, who will fill the newly created role of head of operations, and account director Nicola Cregan.
