Coley Porter Bell decks out Cannes bar with whisky branding

Coley Porter Bell has created a Chivas Regal-branded interior for the bar of Cannes’ Martinez Hotel for this year’s film, advertising and design festivals.

The bar features ‘muted’ branding and wallcoverings in black on black, using elements of the Chivas Regal branding. The bar fixture and shelves will feature amber-coloured accent lights, inspired by the drink’s amber colour.

Coley Porter Bell has created plinths on either side of the bar that will display Chivas Regal 25, which comes in a limited-edition bottle designed by Christian Lacroix. Images of the product will be displayed on the walls in gilt frames.

‘This was a challenging design problem requiring the consultancy to strike a delicate balance between the need for branding and discreet luxury,’ says Coley Porter Bell design director Simon Adamson, who also acts as Chivas Brothers’ global senior creative director.

’France is very strict about the ways you can promote alcohol,’ he adds, ’so we had to use brand equities rather than big logos
