Farrow Design creates Kew Gardens food branding

Farrow Design is branding and packaging Food From Kew, the new retail food and dining offer from Kew Gardens, as well as creating logos and designing graphics for its four restaurants and cafés.

Furniture and interiors group Andy Martin Studio is designing the restaurant and café interiors. Farrow co-tendered for the work with caterer Peyton and Byrne towards the end of last year, along with AMS. Peyton and Byrne appointed Farrow last November, on the strength of its previous work for the caterer, says the consultancy.

Farrow, AMS and Peyton and Byrne together beat competition in a creative pitch against five consortiums to scoop the contract. The identities for the two main restaurants – The Orangery and The Pavilion – as well as for the White Peaks and Victoria Gate cafés and the Kew Cabin mobile dining units, use stylised motifs based on Kew’s buildings.

’We came up with our ideal branding during the pitch, which Kew liked, but asked us to fit that within its new brand guidelines,’ says Farrow senior designer Gary Stillwell. The interiors and graphics will roll out over the next 18 months.

The Food From Kew retail brand will include spreads, teas and coffee.
