Float has designed an app for RBS which will launch on the new Blackberry Playbook tablet, set to be released in the UK next month.

The banking research and strategy app is purposed to aid investment decision-making.

Float says it is one of the first apps designed for the device, which is expected to host many more specialist corporate apps.

The consultancy won a pitch in February and worked toward a seven-week deadline for the US launch of the device in April.

RBS global head of FICC product management Ron Karpovich says clients’ needs will be addressed ‘by providing access to mobile platforms so they can benefit from timely dynamic analysis from our market-leading strategists when and where they need it’.

Users will be able to view and comment on RBS market research and sort opinions by trends or lists. An inbuilt algorithm identifies clients’ interests and viewing history to tailor research and strategy.

‘Creating an application for a device that hadn’t yet launched was an exciting challenge,’ says Float founder Dan Bladon, who looked to work up ‘detailed and appropriate architecture’ for what he sees as an ‘intuitive application’.
