Baa, the exhibition about the book

Poet Christopher Reid and artist Bryan Illsley have been working together for several years to create limited-edition artists’ books, with writing by Reid and images by Illsley.

Their latest work, Baa, is the subject of an upcoming exhibition at Marsden Woo, which will see artist and designer Alida Sayer (shortlisted for this year’s Design Week Rising Star Award) create an immersive exhibition based on the book.

The show will feature images from the book reproduced at a large scale, overlayered with animated text. At the centre of the show will be the original book.

Sayer, who is creative consultant for Marsden Woo, says, ‘We were scanning in the images for the book and thought “wouldn’t it be great if we could reproduce them at a really big size.”

‘We wanted to create something that would feel like you were walking into the book. It’s about translating a small book into a gallery environment.’

Baa is at Marsden Woo Project Space, Great Sutton Street, London EC1V, from 21 June-31 July.
