Bath-based consultancy Ice House Design has created a new identity for the Bath Preservation Trust, which works to preserve the architectural heritage of the Georgian city.

Ice House has created new branding for the BPT, and a new identity for historic house No.1 Royal Crescent, which is operated by the trust.

It has also worked on the identities for other museums that fall under the BPT’s wing. These are the Herschel Museum of Astronomy, the Building of Bath Collection and Beckford’s Tower and Museum.

Ice House creative director Jack Owen says the work was prompted by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant to support the expansion of No.1.

He says, ‘This was an opportunity to create some unity in the identities, as well as develop a brand for No.1, as it didn’t previously have one.’

The identity for No.1 is based on samples of handwriting by Henry Sandford, a former resident of the house, while the BPT identity is based on architectural features.

Ice House is also working on websites for the BPT and its museums, which are set to launch later this year, alongside the new identities.
