As broadcaster and bike fiend Jack Thurston says in the introduction, ‘Anyone who appreciates good design cannot but appreciate the bike.’
And Bike v Design – designed and art directed by consultancy Six, certainly offers plenty of opportunity for bike appreciation.
It features 15 interviews with cyclists such as Moulton Bicycle Co.’s Shaun Moulton and fashion designer Karta Healy of TwonFro, all photographed with their steeds.
There are also features subjects such as Brooks saddles and breaking the world hour record.
The publication is something of a taster for the Bike v Design event, which is being held at the Design Museum on 7 September, to coincide with their current Designed to Win sport exhibition.
The event will feature a pop-up cinema, a demonstration of saddle manufacturing from Brooks, and talks from the likes of bike-makers Charge and Condor.
Bike V Design is on 7 September at the Design Museum, Shad Thames, London SE1, tickets cost £15. The Bike v Design publication is available from the Design Museum, priced at £4.50.
