Darling and Edge work on Gingerline HQ pop-up restaurant and arts space
Consultancy Darling and Edge is designing the interiors for pop-up restaurant and arts space Gingerline HQ.
Taking its name from the colour of London’s East London tube line, the location of the restaurant remains secret to diners until 60 minutes before the evening begins.
Each Gingerline event’s theme is reflected in the interiors and graphics, which are produced by designer Syd Hausmann and applied to all touch points including signage, interior graphics and take-home souvenir menus.
Darling and Edge was appointed to the work about two months ago, having won a creative pitch they heard about through their work as designers in residence at London’s Old Vic Tunnels.
Elise Edge, Darling and Edge co-founder, says, ‘They gave us a mood board and a theme so we’ve had a lot of creative freedom. We’ve been working on it since the beginning fo the month so it’s quite a ling time to work on one space so that was amazing – they’re very open with the theme.’
The space will feature bespoke design table tops and menus, giant props that interact with guests, performers and projections. Everything, including the floor, will be hand painted. As well as designing the interiors, Darling and Edge is also working on a number of interactive installations. Artist Tom Sleeman is also creating an installation for the space.
Gingerline HQ, the eighth Gingerline event, will run for 6 – 12 weeks from 29 August.
Is this a new thing? Pop up stores in London? Not that I’m complaining, although I can’t be there to pop by.
Must be backlash from the Olympic, as with Liberty Store and other examples http://brabbu.com/blog/2012/07/liberty-pops-up-in-london2012/
