Design In Question
Only the Design Week archive makes more references to the word design then new book Design in Question.
Its contents are drawn from a composition of questions of design, displayed on a giant typographical wall at Elisava – the Barcelona school of design and engineering.
The wall was initially conceived in 2009 by Swiss designer Ruedi Baur, design institute Design 2 Context and Elisava, which together launched a call for questions of design, and received 100 responses from designers and students from around the world.
Today the wall displays 700 questions which has prompted Baur and fellow designer Vera Kockort to select the most pertinant for the book.
Flitting from the brilliant to the ambiguous to the worthy, Questions in Design is a sometimes rewarding, sometimes confusing conversation on the philosophy of design, bundled up rather beautifully.
You’ll probably finish reading this book – which will ask you 360 questions – feeling interrogated, and possibly enlightened.
Design in Question is edited by Elisava and Design2Context, designed by Integral Ruedi Baur and published by Lars Muller Publishers GmbH, priced £18
Wonderful, I have enjoyed reading these – it gets you thinking. I feel a discussion coming on….
