The Design Council and social investment organisation Nominet Trust are supporting the projects as part of the Working Well Design Challenge, which launched in May.
Spark + Mettle and Pixel Group is working on Discoverabl.es, a ‘personal branding platform’ that allows young people to tell their own stories.
Young Scot, Firstport, Snook and Telaco are developing Newstart, a programme that allows young people to form temporary microenterprises.
The House is creating a new web app that will help to connect young people looking for funding and advice with the general public, who can mentor and invest in their projects.
The three teams were selected from more than 80 applications, and the results of their work will be shown in January 2013.
Mat Hunter, chief design officer at the Design Council, says, ‘What is great is that there is true collaboration between designers and youth organisations.
‘We’re really excited about the three winning ideas and confident that the teams will re-engage young people and provide practical help in giving them a proper start in life.’
