LBi says it is ‘in discussions’ over a potential deal

Digital consultancy LBi has issued a statement saying that it is ‘in discussions’ over a potential deal, following speculation that the group might be bought up.

After WPP announced that it was buying fellow digital consultancy AKQA, the press focus turned to Netherlands-based LBi, which is the largest remaining independent digital marketing agency, with net revenues of 197 million euros (£158 million) an international staff of more than 2000, and offices in 16 countries.

The consultancy, which is publicly listed in The Netherlands, has now issued a statement saying ‘The company has, for some time, received interest from potential suitors and, more recently, commenced initial discussions with third parties interested in pursuing further consolidation in the sector.

‘Such discussions are at a very preliminary stage and there is no certainty that an offer will be made for the company.’

LBi says press speculation about the future of the company is ‘inevitable’ and adds that it is ‘well-placed to continue independently’.
