Malika Favre’s Hide & Seek
Probably best known for her work as part of Airside (RIP) French illustrator Malika Favre is set to hold her first London solo show.
Hide & Seek, at the Kemistry Gallery, will tell the story of an ‘intriguing and sophisticated’ woman travelling from one pattern to the next, hiding from the viewer.
Favre says she wanted to develop a show with a narrative core, that also played with positive and negative space.
She says, ‘There is such beauty and intrigue in those repetitive concrete balconies, I felt like creating a series of abstract prints based on the architectural patterns that no-one really notices.’
The show will feature a series of prints set together as a series of optical experiments. Favre says, ‘I hope it will make people see the beauty in their everyday surroundings, leaving with a smile and feeling slightly dizzy.’
You can get a taste of the exhibition in this video teaser:
Malika Favre: Hide & Seek is at Kemistry Gallery, 43 Charlotte Road, London EC2A from 6-29 September.
Beautiful. Clever. I wish I would have done it.
I hope the exhibit is a success.
It’s amazing!
