Packaging shortlist
Penhaligon’s Christmas Boxes 2011 by Jones Knowles Ritchie
Jones Knowles Ritchie was tasked with creating a range of Christmas boxes that would capture the English wit and eccentricity of perfume brand Penhaligon’s. The consultancy chose a ‘hidden London’ theme and created gift boxes that provide a glimpse into life in a Victorian household, with the three boxes stacking up to display a six-storey house – showing exterior on one side and interior on the other.
Bold & Brave Port for Bell River Estate by Bold-inc
Australian consultancy Bold-inc developed the packaging for a limited-edition collection of port from Bell River Estate. The consultancy worked with illustrator Jeremy Lord and developed a design based on a hole-punch to provide hand-crafted individuality across the range of five-different bottles.
VML for Truett Hurst Dry Creek Valley by Stranger & Stranger
Stranger & Stranger created the packaging for biodynamic wine VML. The consultancy says the production of biodynamic wine has roots in pagan mythology and alchemy and uses techniques such as burying stags’ heads and bladders full of petals. To reflect this, the consultancy developed packaging that positions the biodynamic winemaker as the head of a coven, surrounded by her faithful worshippers.
Great Kings Street for Compass Box Whisky by Stranger & Stranger
Compass Box tasked Stranger & Stranger with creating packaging that would make blended whiskies cool and would feature bold and beautiful designs. The consultancy developed packaging that uses late-Victorian and Edwardian whisky-blending houses as inspiration.
M Savers for Morrisons by Coley Porter Bell
Coley Porter Bell was tasked with moving Morrisons’ entry-level value range away from the ‘good, better, best’ system towards one that would better answer consumer needs and reflect Morrisons’ brand ambition of delivering quality and humanity. The consultancy developed designs that use individual hand-drawn illustrations and typography for each-product.
Eggs for Soldiers for Noble Foods by Springetts
Springetts has developed packaging for a new range of eggs that raises money for charity Help for Heroes. The consultancy aimed to create a brand that would show support for the sacrifice made by the armed services.
The Food Doctor, by Pearlfisher
Pearlfisher was briefed to create new packaging for The Food Doctor range that would embrace the ‘eat better forever’ packaging and move the brand focus from a functional product to a more lifestyle proposition. The new packaging uses an apple icon and brings in different colours across the range.
All this lovely, business minded and effective work from the runners up and you award a self indulgent and badly drawn piece of work the top prize? god help the design week awards and the whole process.
