The service, which launched yesterday, allows used to access the Virgin TV service through a web browser or mobile and tablet app for iPad, iPhone and iPod. Red Bee Media designed the online interface; while another consultancy created the iPad app.
Red Bee Media’s remit included creating the interface and user experience for the online component of Virgin TV Anywhere, including integration with social media, viewer recommendations and content ratings.
Andy Bryant, Red Bee Media creative director, says, ‘Pay TV subscribers now expect to be able to access their content, live or on-demand, in any location and via any device. This can present a challenge for platforms or broadcasters who need to ensure a consistent look and feel across all of their services.’
He adds, ‘It was vital that the user experience was seamlessly integrated into Virgin Media’s existing portfolio of services and for the social integration and content recommendations to be intuitive and easy to use.’
In October last year, Start Judge Gill designed a new identity for Virgin Media incorporating the Union flag, which is shown on the Virgin TV Anywhere online platform.
