SB Studio has designed the interiors and branding for its sister company Cow & Co, a design store opening its first physical space in Liverpool this week.

Cow & Co has only previously retailed online, selling design and craft products including stationaery and cards, prints and signs, lighting, homeware and vintage products, often from emerging designers.

SB Studio has worked on the interior design, brand development, art direction, signage and promotional materials for Cow & Co following the design and development of the online shop in 2010. It has also created the packaging for a new range of Cow & Co products that are only available in-store.

The consultancy redeveloped the brand about six months ago, redefining the tone-of-voice to reflect the new products that would be sold.

Benji Holroyd, creative director at SB Studio, says, ‘They’d done a few pop-up shops in and around Liverpool to test the water and see how well it was received. They were really popular so since then we had the idea of doing something with the shop and studio working together.

‘That’s the nice thing about it – we’re sourcing products from all over the world, but we’re also designing products for the shop.’

All interior fixtures and fittings have also been created by SB Studio. Holroyd says, ‘A lot of the things there are upcycled. The shop is a mixed space with SB’s meeting space – it’s an area where people can come and have a browse and buy things, while also engaging with the studio and how we work.’

SB Studio is now working on a mobile app for both the Cow&Co shop and the online store which will launch later in the year.
