The British Biscuit Festival

This summer is shaping up to be a season of festivities in the UK, with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on the horizon and the London 2012 Olympics still to come. But there’s one event that really takes the biscuit.

Yes, the inaugural British Biscuit Festival is set to take place over three days in London this month.

As well as providing a much-needed opportunity to eat lots of biscuits, the festival, organised by the Brunswick Centre, also promises a host of intriguing events such the blindfold biscuit challenge, guess the Digestive and the daredevil dunk-off…

The event also promises a strong focus on biscuit creativity, with build-a-biscuit workshops, where you can create your own dream biscuit from a range of fillings, bases and toppings, and an opportunity to create ‘bisc-ART’, with six of the best biscuit artworks being showcased on the day.

There will be scientific experiments on biscuits, including dunking experiments, and a performance exploring Victorian funeral biscuits, paper-wrapped biscuits that were traditionally eaten at funerals.

And if this all sounds too much, there will of course be tea and a selection of biscuits from around the world.

The British Biscuit Festival runs from 8-10 June at the Brunswick Centre, London WC1.
