A new show opening this weekend Inner World/Innen Welt: The Projects of Haus-Rucker-Co 1967-1992, marks 20 years since the group’s dissolution, aiming to show the breadth and density of its projects.

With an emphasis on the ‘perceptual realm’, Haus-Rucker-Co created designs for inflatable structures, prosthetic devices and public space interventions that aimed to distort the spaces they were housed in.

Looking to evoke a ‘feeling of foreignness’, the works took on many forms, and frequently used plastics as both material and an emblem of the group’s futurist vision of a more democratic, flexible and mobile lifestyle.

Oase No 7 1972

This new exhibition will present a number of the group’s projects thorough a selection of archival drawings, collages, photographs, models and ephemera.

Oase No 7 1972

One such project is Oase Nr. 7, a bubble-like intervention attached to the façade of Musuem Fridericianums in 1972 that aimed to create a ‘personal oasis.’ Viewers will also be able to learn more about Gelbes Herz,  a retina-dazzling, psychedelic patterned ‘communications space-capsule for two people’, according to Haus-Rucker-Co.
