Inspired by philosopher Carl Jung’s understanding of tarot symbolism, Matir will use 24 tarot cards in the piece ‘to explore different archetypes of Mexican cinema’ which he says include ‘the gentlemen, the lady, the drunk, the dead and the courageous.’

Matir will beam the piece onto the outside of host venue Rich Mix from sundown to midnight, every night, next weekend.

‘I wanted to show the early part of Mexican cinema, up until 1991 and then the present of Mexican cinema, because that’s what people are here to see,’ says Matir.

To this end while watching the piece, you can stream, one of two pieces of original music, one fast and one slow, both in synch with the film, but chosen at the viewers discretion.

Matir has worked on production design, lighting and visuals for the likes of Coachella Valley Music and Arts festival, Stella McCartney, and Elton John.
