Zombies to take over London’s Southbank

Following in the surreal footsteps of marvellous publishing platform No Brow and designers Tsang and Ashima, the Zombie Collectives mob of graphic artists and illustrators are to take over the Hayward Gallery shop on London’s Southbank.

This latest venture is part of the gallery’s This Is Not A Pop Up series a (confusingly) pop-up initiative which will see a series of designers take over the shop however they choose.

Capitalizing on the gallery’s riverside location, Zombie Collective’s appropriation of the space looks to all things sea for inspiration. Entitled Fathoms Deep, we’re promised a ‘nautical spectacular’ that features new work from Zombie alongside new talent Anthony Peters, Chryso Haralambous, Calm & Collected, Jason Munro, El Famoso, Alan Dalby, Laura Bird, Patrick Schmidt & Nick Hayes.

Alongside usual gift-shop ephemera such as prints and cards, the Zombie Collective collection will also feature deck chairs and, obviously, sea-faring paraphernalia, with prices ranging from a mere under-a-pound to about £150.

Running alongside the show will be a series of aquatic themed events, including a typographic treasure map making workshop and a Mini Armada workshop, where little seafarers can build their very own boat, with a custom-built flag to boot.

The Zombie Collective’s Fathom’s Deep runs form 17 May –  3 June at the Hayward Gallery, Belvedere Road,
 London
