Available in gold or platinum – and with one drip or two – the egg cups aim to celebrate unwanted drip marks on fine bone china, turning them into attractive decorative details.
The egg-cups join other pieces in the range, which already features teapots, bowls, jugs and cups.
Also new from Kaneko is another piece that celebrates the flaws and imperfections of china – the Crack of Thunder mug.
The name refers to a crack detail which runs down the side of the mug – also available in gold or platinum with one crack or two.
The design concept apparently draws on a Japanese tradition, whereby broken china would be glued back together and the crack gilded to accentuate the flaw rather than hide it.
The Drip Tease and Crack of Thunder pieces are available from www.reikokaneko.co.uk.
