Retail interiors shortlist 2013
Paris Kids, for Paris, Chile, by Dalziel & Pow
Dalziel & Pow was appointed to design the children’s department for Chilean retailer Paris’s new store opening in Quilin, Santiago. The consultancy based its designs around the concept of adventure – with playful architecture and furniture inspired by childhood fun, such as skateboarding, camping and beach holidays. Theatrical sets resemble miniature houses, room sets and play areas, while a toy area sits in the heart of the space.
In-Q at Harrods, for Qatar Museum Authorities and Harrods, by gpstudio
In-Q is a retail experience that aims to bring authentic Qatari culture to London, and was commissioned by the royal family of Qatar. It features traditional arts and crafts, and Islamic clothes and jewellery, as well as merchandise from Qatar’s museums and galleries. A relaxation room serves Arabic coffee with dates and sweets.
Fred Perry Westfield Stratford City, for Fred Perry, by Buckley Gray Yeoman
Fred Perry’s Westfield Stratford branch is the brand’s flagship Authentic store, merging contemporary design with the fashion brand’s 60-year heritage. The store’s centrepiece is an anamorphic artwork of Fred Perry’s famous laurel emblem. The sculpture comprises 32 suspended brass leaves, which run the length of the retail space. Meanwhile a white wall at the back of the store is a mosaic of white Fred Perry buttons, while light panels feature blown-up photography of a Fred Perry polo shirt.
