Dixons and Carphone Warehouse become Dixons Carphone

Dixons and Carphone Warehouse have announced a £3.8 billion merger as the new company looks to offer a ‘seamless experience’ and tap into the connected internet of things market.

Carphone Warehouse

The new company has been named Dixons Carphone, but was unable to confirm this morning if any designers have been engaged to work on branding.

Dixons operate more than 500 Currys and PC World stores in the UK and Ireland and Carphone Warehouse operates more than 2000 stores across Europe.

Dixons Carphone says their existing brands ‘may’ be subsumed into the new umbrella brand and although ‘a rollout won’t happen over-night’ it is possible that all the stores will take the Dixons Carphone name.

Currys PC World

Former chief executive of Dixons, (now chief executive of Dixons Carphone) Sebastian James says,  ‘The ability to take what we have built in electrical retailing and add the profound expertise of Carphone Warehouse in connectivity would make us a leading force in retailing for a connected world.

‘Together, we can create a seamless experience for our customers that will enable technology to deliver what it promises – that is, to make their lives better.’
