Royal Mail celebrates ‘Great British Films’ with new stamps
The Royal Mail has released a set of ten stamps which celebrate ‘Great British Films,’ including 2001 A Space Odyssey and Lawrence of Arabia.

Design Week understands that Johnson Banks worked on early concept designs and the Royal Mail then implemented the stamps in house. Johnson Banks has refused to comment.
For the stamps the films are framed in a landscape crop with rounded edges and set against black, to create a cinematic or film-like aesthetic.
The other films featured are A Matter of Life and Death, Chariots of Fire, Secrets & Lies, and Bend it Like Beckham.
A mini-sheet of four additional stamps celebrate films put out by the General Post Office Film Unit.
The GPO films, which were all produced in the 1930s, are Night Mail (1936), Love on the Wing (1938), A Colour Box (1935), and Spare Time (1939).
Johnson Banks has refused to comment… I wonder why!!!?!
With exception to the ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ they’re all dull and uninspiring…
