East London Design show opens

The East London Design Show kicks off at Shoreditch Town Hall in north London today.

Showcasing the work of more than 120 independent designers, from the worlds of furniture, lighting, jewellery, digital art and ceramics, the event is billed as an opportunity for the public to buy one-off, but affordable designs.

Founded in 1994 by the glassmaker Della Tinsley and photographer Gideon Leary, ELDS has become an annual event in the design calendar and it has given rise to a host of design talent.

This year’s featured designers include Alice Mare’s ceramics, shoes from Esska, Michelle Mason’s lighting and furniture by Titus Davies.

The East London Design Show takes place from 29 November to 2 December at Shoreditch Town Hall, 380 Old Street, London EC1 (admission £4 per person or £2 for concessions). Visit www.eastlondondesignshow.co.uk.
